A free set of replacement system folder icons, created around August 1993.
I can╒t take all the credit for them; a plain manilla folder was in one of the many icon collections floating around ╤ sorry, I can╒t remember which ╤ so I cleaned it up, modified it, and created the other variations the system uses.
Brownie points to the original artist. (E-mail me?)
Instructions (read completely before using):
NB. I take no responsibility for any consequences.
Using Resedit╔
1. Copy all the contents of the ╥Manilla Folder Icons╙ file to the clipboard.
2. Paste into the System File.
3. Say ╥Yes╙ when it asks if you want to replace resources with the same ID.
4. Save Changes, Quit, then Restart.
5. You should really have made a backup of your System File before step 2.
Or, if you don╒t like playing with Resedit, you can use N. Jonas Englund╒s ÑSharewareÑ program IconArtist, to accomplish the same thing with a safety net and a smooth interface. He has also made a set of 3D folder icons, and a neat little wicker basket to replace the trash can.
If you use this, please do something you probably normally wouldn╒t (stare at the clouds for minutes at a time, doze in a hammock swinging gently with the tide, or stand naked and unashamed in front of thousands of people) and then e-mail:
ianderso@gucis.cit.gu.edu.au (Internet).
E-mail will, most likely, bounce between late November 1993 and early February 1994 while I am on holiday, but you can try anyway╔
Live life, people.
They╒re only icons. :-)
Thanks,
Iain.
